One of the biggest barriers you will run in to, when starting a blog is the fear of writing. It is a fear we all have to one level or another, and the fear was placed in us in school. When we first started going to school, we learned to read, and write. Then, over time we would get the paper back with all these little red marks that revealed all the mistakes we made, and we learned about correction. As time went on, we learned to always correct mistakes, to never fail, or we would receive a bad grade.
That is why when we talk about starting a blog, or writing something, there is an inner critic that rises up, and says hey, if I do this, it may look like crap. My first thought is “so what”. If you are afraid to write that post, then just write it. Yes, write it. Set a timer, and just write. No stopping, no correction, just write what comes to your head. Once you are done, you can set it a side for a bit, and come back to it later, and edit the writing all you want to make it look good.
I use this when my head is full of mud, and thoughts, and there is so much I want to say, but just can’t get it sorted. There is truly something freeing about just writing, with out having to be concerned with what will come out.
How long should I set the timer for, about 5 to 10 minutes, its up to you. The point is to set a time where you write.

Barry Feldman wrote a blog article titled “Copywriting Tips for The Novice Blogger“.
I think its a good read, and it expands on this thought little further.
