The other day, I took my daughter to a music therapy session. Now, I was out in the waiting room with Mike. It was loud and noisy with lots of other kids, running around, doing their thing, waiting to be called back. I was sitting there, trying to drown out the noise, when I heard my daughter’s name. Now, lets think about this, out of the many kids that were there, my ears picked my daughter’s name and even her voice. Call it mother’s instinct, call it what ever you like, but the point is this; At that moment, someone was talking about my daughter and none of those other kids. That outside noise didn’t matter one bit.
Now, I ask you, are you adding to the noise in your market place? You see, in your industry, there are plenty of companies, that sell this or that and have the lowest pricing. However, when your prospects research, is there a reason they should listen to you? Is there something that says, “Hey, don’t bother with those others over there, come here, we are the experts in what we do”, or “we have some other reason that makes it’s simple for you to pay attention to our company, our brand.” If the answer to that question is no, then stop adding to the noise, find that one thing that makes you unique.
To your success,
P.S. – The band Switchfoot said it best, “If we’re adding to the noise, turn off this song.” Have thoughts, please feel free to leave them in the comments below.
